Frequently Asked Questions
What is the expected life of the batteries
Battery life is determined by many factors including the quality of the batteries and charger, the number of cycles of discharge and recharge, the storage temp and charging methods. Batteries can last in excess of 4 years in a scooter that is used for short trips 2-3 days a week and left on the charger when not in use. Very heavy users may only get 12-18 months.
How do I know when the batteries are getting low
The battery level indicator performs the same roll as a fuel gauge in a motor vehicle. As a general guide, if the gauge is going down quicker than normal, the scooter is running low on power, or is loosing a lot of power on small hills etc then it is almost certain that the batteries need changing.
How do I prevent theft and what about insurance
Just remove the key when you are not using the scooter. We have only heard
of one case where a scooter was stolen and it was recovered within 2 days. The
scooter can be insured for theft and public liability for approx $125.
What if I get a puncture
Just like a car or bike – your local garage or bicycle shop can fix it. We can fit
solid rubber tires for total peace of mind but the ride will not be as smooth.
What happens if I have a scooter problem and I live in a rural area
Seek our advice first on purchasing the most suitable product. We carry all the parts most likely to be required for the scooter we would recommend. These can be fitted by anyone with minimal mechanical skills. Throttle controls etc are already pre-set for immediate change over and do not require any sophisticated equipment. We have scooters in many remote locations including Alice Springs and we have always been able to solve any issues without difficulty.
Do I have to wait six months for parts
For all CTM models we sell on the net we guarantee to have any necessary parts needed to keep you going available in our store within 3 business days. We find that the front shrouds are the most likely to get damaged in an accident and we always have them available. For the other brands that we sell, it is beyond our control as to immediate parts availability, but we have never suffered more than a one to two week delay in the past.
Do you buy back scooters
Buying back products and re-stocking would increase our overheads and reduce our productivity so instead we offer you the option of listing the item on our Used Goods Page FREE of charge. We are the first and only company to provide such a service. Just provide us with full details of the item and your contact details by e-mail and we will have it listed within 3 working days.
